Reliance Life Sciences has plant metabolic
engineering research programs in biofuels
and nutraceuticals.
Reliance Life Sciences uses innovation
in plant biotechnology as a benchmark
to develop novel products. The technology
platform includes gene discovery, novel
gene cloning, gene expression, plant transformation
and plant cell fermentation.
Reliance Life Sciences is equipped with
state-of-the-art infrastructure consisting
of a dedicated plant fermentation laboratory,
a mist bioreactor, a transgenic green
house, a gene pulsor, real time PCR, a
DNA sequencer, and climate-controlled
growth rooms.
Plant Metabolic Engineering (PME) services
include:
- Gene cloning
- Vector construction
- Plant transformation
- cDNA and gDNA library construction
and screening
- Protocol development for micro-propagation
- Large scale production of industrial
compounds and high-value metabolites through
plant cell and hairy root cultures
- Increasing secondary metabolite
yield by cloning genes of interest
- PME is committed to creating value
through high quality research and developing
new products of commercial value in each
of its research programs.
Under the Biofuels program, Reliance
Life Sciences is developing transgenic
and random mutants of Jatropha yielding
higher-than-normal quantity of oil; and
large-scale production of Jatropha plants
through micro-propagation. Under its nutraceuticals
program, Reliance Life Sciences is developing
processes for large-scale biomass production
using bioreactors.
